This Principal Electrical Design Engineer role will give you scope to develop your career and see the bigger picture in this well-established consultancy. This role will suit someone who wants to work as a valued member of a close knit supportive team. You will join a small management team and be instrumental in shaping the future of the practice and will contribute to business planning and overseeing a team of technicians. Projects are across a wide range of sectors including heritage, healthcare, education and bespoke residential developments.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting clients with the development of a brief defining design requirements and managing client expectations from inception to completion of each project.
- Developing realistic conceptual designs, schematics and detailed designs to assist fellow professionals with shaping the building design at an early stage.
- Producing substantiation calculations to demonstrate that designs will perform as required.
- Having an awareness and understanding of the purpose and principles of a range of mechanical building services systems.
- Proactively communicating with other technicians and engineers within the practice to produce carefully considered and well-coordinated engineering design drawings and written specifications.
- Managing projects against time, cost and quality requirements.
Experience and Qualifications:
- A minimum of HNC/HND in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years experience.
- Current membership of at least one relevant professional institution.
- Current full UK driving license and the use of a vehicle for business.
- An interest in sustainable design and energy.
- Undertaking electrical and lighting design calculations.
- Thorough understanding and working knowledge of current legislative requirements and design standards.
