Position Overview

We are currently seeking skilled Self‑Employed Plant Operators to partner with us. As a Self‑Employed Plant Operator, you will be responsible for operating various heavy machinery on our clients' sites. Your expertise will ensure the success of construction projects by efficiently and safely manoeuvring equipment on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and maintain a range of construction plant machinery, including Telehandlers, Tracked Dumpers, ADTs, Wheeled Excavators, 360 Excavators, Loading Shovels, Dozers, Rollers, Tractors, and 3CX backhoe loaders.
  • Perform pre‑operational checks and routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment functionality and prevent breakdowns.
  • Follow project plans and instructions to carry out excavation, material handling, earthmoving, and compaction tasks.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to promote a safe working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with site supervisors, fellow operators, and other team members to coordinate activities and ensure efficient workflow.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify any issues or defects, reporting them promptly for repair or replacement.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and fuel consumption.

Requirements

  • Ideally fully Sizewell inducted but not essential.
  • Proven experience operating a variety of construction plant machinery, including Telehandlers, Tracked Dumpers, ADTs, Wheeled Excavators, 360 Excavators, Loading Shovels, Dozers, Rollers, Tractors, and 3CX backhoe loaders.
  • Valid certifications or licenses for operating specific types of machinery, as required by local regulations.
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety protocols and best practices.
  • Ability to interpret project plans, drawings, and instructions.
  • Excellent hand‑eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Flexibility to work in various weather conditions and environments, including outdoor construction sites.
