About the Role
We are recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a busy commercial vehicle workshop in Pontefract. This is a night shift role working within a high performing VMU environment where quality, safety and uptime are critical. As an HGV Technician, you will be part of a skilled team keeping fleet vehicles roadworthy, compliant and operating at maximum efficiency. This is a great opportunity for an HGV Technician who takes pride in diagnostics, repairs and delivering high standards of workmanship.
Key Responsibilities of a HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter
- Carry out routine maintenance, servicing and repairs on HGV and trailer vehicles
- Diagnose faults and identify worn or defective components in line with DVSA standards
- Complete inspections, preventative maintenance and safety checks
- Support breakdown and emergency repair work when required
- Maintain accurate records of all work completed
- Keep the workshop clean, safe and compliant at all times
- Work closely with other technicians to plan and complete repairs efficiently
Skills and Experience Required
- Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Repair and Maintenance or equivalent (NVQ, City and Guilds or IMI)
- IRTEC accreditation is required
- Strong experience as an HGV Technician working with HGV and trailers
- Good diagnostic and fault finding ability
- Understanding of DVSA standards and LOLER requirements
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high quality work
