HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic – Felixstowe – Permanent Day Shift

Location: Felixstowe

Salary: Up to Β£19.50 per hour for a 40-hour week, alternate Saturdays paid at 1.5x

Hours: 07:00 – 15:30, Monday to Friday with 30-minute break, alternate Saturdays

The Role

We are seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join a Felixstowe dealership. You will provide diagnostic and technical repairs, ensure vehicles are roadworthy, and specify repair solutions for defects or service work. You will also support workshop operations including job handovers and time recording.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical diagnosis and specify accurate repair solutions
  • Produce quotes, work orders, and repair plans for defects and service work
  • Ensure correct time recording and use of workshop codes
  • Hand over completed jobs to customer service for invoicing
  • Carry out shift handovers including outstanding jobs and customer issues

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • HGV Technician NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent
  • Experience as a technician within the Heavy Goods Vehicle industry
  • Knowledge of VOSA requirements and MOT tester procedures
  • Understanding of Operators Licence Laws and Regulations
  • Ability to analyse technical issues and propose solutions
  • Basic Microsoft Outlook knowledge

Desirable

  • Knowledge of workshop KPI\’s, GDS and Impact systems
  • Technical product knowledge
  • Effective communication skills at all levels
