We are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant / Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to join a busy and growing finance team in Avonmouth. This is a varied finance position offering responsibility across bookkeeping, payroll, management reporting, reconciliations, and ledger management. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records while supporting the wider finance function with month-end reporting and financial administration. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records across the business
- Manage sales ledger activities and customer accounts
- Process purchase ledger transactions and supplier payments
- Prepare and post journals
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations
- Support payroll processing and submissions
- Assist with monthly management reporting
- Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations
- Support month-end procedures and reporting activities
- Produce financial information and reports for management
- Assist with credit control activities when required
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Support continuous improvement within the finance department
- Provide general finance and administrative support
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
- Previous experience within an accounting, bookkeeping, or finance role
- Strong understanding of sales ledger and purchase ledger processes
- Experience preparing journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Payroll experience
- Experience producing management reports
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
- Strong communication skills
Desirable:
- AAT qualification or equivalent accounting qualification
- Experience using Xero or similar accounting software
- Experience supporting month-end accounting processes
