Are you a Legal Secretary or do you have strong audio and typing skills? Interested in working in a law firm in Private Client supporting the team? We are seeking a proactive and experienced Legal Secretary to join a highly respected Private Client team in Swindon. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with a senior partner and a supportive legal team, providing first-class secretarial and administrative support across a broad range of private client matters.
As a Legal Secretary in this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering a seamless client experience and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Preparing and amending legal documents including Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Trusts, and Probate applications
- Handling correspondence, dictation, and document production with accuracy and efficiency
- Managing client files - opening, closing, archiving, and maintaining electronic and physical records
- Scheduling appointments and managing diaries for the partner and other fee earners
- Liaising with clients via telephone, email, and in person in a professional and confidential manner
- Conducting Land Registry and Probate Registry searches
- Assisting with court forms and submission of HMRC IHT accounts
- Monitoring deadlines and keeping fee earners on track with key dates
- Billing support and assisting with financial administration
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally within a Private Client department but not essential.
- Excellent typing skills, including audio and digital dictation
- Strong administrative and organisational abilities
- High level of discretion and a sensitive, client-focused approach
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management systems
- Ability to multitask and prioritise workload under pressure
