TRT World’s News and Programmes departments are looking for Correspondents in Istanbul-Türkiye.

Job Description:

  • Work together with various teams to coordinate priorities.
  • Recognise a news story, research and gather the required material, and assemble it for broadcast, narrating it clearly and confidently on air and through written digital content.
  • Deliver live or recorded segments and field packages, as well as digital products.
  • Pitch genuine story ideas through daily and weekly planning meetings.
  • Be always available for deployments and meet field assignment objectives.
  • Ensure compliance and implementation of TRT Editorial Values and Style Guides.
  • Gather news using contacts and sources through personal interviews, wire services, news briefings by the government, or press releases sent by companies.
  • Produce exclusive packages through deployments and investigative reporting, as well as create quick in-house packages as per the need of the program to set the agenda of the channel.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, cooperating with other members and demonstrating a collaborative and supportive approach to achieve the end result of delivering TRT World's requirements for original, human-focused, distinctive journalism.
  • Work well under pressure and be able to cover a diverse range of stories across different parts of the region when required, being equally comfortable dealing with minute-by-minute breaking news and longer exclusive investigations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or other related social sciences.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in television news, including television news production.
  • Experience working in journalistic interests including social affairs, international politics, public policy, world business and economic affairs, sciences, and the arts.
  • Considerable reporting experience over a number of years.
  • Being articulate and confident on air both in delivering live reports and in studio discussion.
  • High level of proficiency in English.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and for long hours.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English.
  • Camera / Edit experience is an asset.
  • Strong listening and negotiating skills.
  • Willing to relocate to Istanbul-Türkiye.
