We are seeking an experienced High Voltage (HV) Engineer with strong technical expertise in primary equipment to support the engineering, installation, testing, and commissioning of onshore substation assets. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in high-voltage systems (33 kV - 400 kV).
Initial 12 month contract Outside IR35 working for a leading EPC.
Key Responsibilities:- Specify, review, and oversee installation of primary HV equipment: transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers, surge arresters, earthing systems.
- Review vendor drawings, FAT/SAT documentation, and ensure compliance with UK/IEC standards.
- Support construction, installation, and pre-energisation checks, including site inspections and quality verification.
- Assist with technical calculations (fault levels, earthing, insulation coordination).
- Coordinate with civil, protection, SCADA, and EPC contractors.
- Ensure all work meets HSE and electrical safety requirements.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.
- Proven experience on onshore HV substations (33 - 400 kV).
- Strong understanding of primary equipment, AIS/GIS layouts, and HV installation practices.
- Ability to interpret SLDs, layouts, and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of UK regulatory and utility standards.
