We are seeking an experienced Subcontracts Manager to manage the full downstream subcontract lifecycle on large-scale EPC projects. The role focuses on subcontract drafting, negotiation, administration, risk management, and supporting successful project delivery. This role is based in the North East of England and is on a 3-4-year fixed term contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, and administer downstream subcontracts aligned to head contract requirements
- Manage subcontracts from award through execution, variations, and close-out
- Identify and mitigate contractual and commercial risks
- Manage variations, claims, and support dispute resolution
- Work closely with site teams to manage subcontractor performance and interfaces
- Support cost control, payments, and commercial reporting with PM and Finance teams
- Act as the key point of contact for sub contractual matters
Experience
- 8+ years' experience in subcontract or contracts management within EPC, construction, energy, or infrastructure projects
- Proven experience managing downstream subcontracts in site-based environments
- Working knowledge of NEC AND FIDIC frameworks
- Strong track record managing variations, claims, and subcontract close-out
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Proficient in MS Office; contract management or ERP systems experience is an advantage
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, Business Administration, or a related discipline
- Master's degree or professional accreditation (RICS, CICES, or similar) is an advantage
