We are looking for an experienced Lead Process Engineer to join our Global team. In this client-facing leadership role, you will drive the development of innovative process designs across feasibility studies, conceptual designs, and early-stage engineering packages for cutting-edge facilities and retrofits. Working as part of a global team of subject matter experts, you will support projects across life sciences, advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, data centres, and battery production.

The essential job duties for this position are as follows:

  • Lead process design activities to deliver Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, and Advanced Technologies projects.
  • Extensive experience in delivering front-end design for site master planning, feasibility, and concept studies, accompanied by in-depth experience of carrying out basic/detail design stages.
  • Provide engineering and technical support for complex projects, acting as the main interface with clients, discipline engineers, and management.
  • Proficient in Aspen and/or Inteligen Simulation Software, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio (or other CAD drawing program), and Sketchup.
  • GxP competent with good familiarity with FDA/EMA/MHRA and similar standards and relevant design guidelines (e.g. ISPE, PCI etc.) and design codes (e.g. ASME BPE) for professionals in the Life Science sector.
  • Develop process flow and integrated equipment diagrams to aid in the preparation of facility general arrangements.
  • Provide input about the technology platforms in the industry and comparison of the options where required by the client.
  • Work closely with the architectural team to arrange and size equipment to meet the needs of the client's process.
  • Capable of developing a priced equipment list and an I/O list.
  • Analyse design challenges, evaluate options, and recommend solutions.
  • Support business development efforts to secure new projects for the PDS.
  • Plan and execute process tasks per contract requirements.
  • Support estimating activities and equipment pricing.
  • Support the development of proposals.
  • Share advanced chemical engineering practices and strategies.
  • Maintain contact with external consultants and organisations for specialised services.
  • Mentor and train process engineers.

Basic Job Requirements:

  • The ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate an elevated level of technical knowledge in one or more of the manufacturing sectors served by ATLS.
  • Self-reliant and use own initiatives based on previous experience in similar facility and/or process design roles.
  • Analytical approach to problem solving and identifying potential solutions.
  • Experience and competence to incorporate the basis of safety into the process design and deliver an inherently safe process from the start.
  • Ability to assist, and where required lead, the design co-ordination process on projects between technical disciplines (Architectural, HVA, Building Services, Electrical, Control/Automation) or between the team and third-party designers.
  • Technical and business writing skills.
  • Basic understanding of design, engineering calculation, procurement, equipment design, construction, commissioning, start-up, turnover work processes, sequencing, and interfaces.
  • Ability to resolve problems and to be comfortable in complex projects or business environments.
  • Ability to travel periodically to other offices or client locations in support of projects or routine business needs.
  • Networking with industry organisations, contemporaries, and clients.
  • Experience in leading complex process design projects for one or more of the industry segments PDS serves.
  • Regulatory experience.
  • Experience collaborating with multi-discipline project teams and understanding of scope requirements at the different project design phases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and fifteen years of work-related experience is required.
  • Chartered Engineer preferred.
