We are seeking an experienced Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW) to support a major infrastructure project during the construction phase. This role has two key elements:
- Acting as an independent EnvCoW to monitor and report on environmental compliance.
- Acting as the client's environmental representative on site, overseeing inspections, audits, and contractor compliance.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring all environmental commitments, planning conditions, and regulatory requirements are fully adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Independent EnvCoW Duties
- Monitor compliance with environmental commitments and planning conditions.
- Produce monthly reports summarising site activities and compliance.
- Report any environmental non-compliances within required timeframes.
- Undertake pre-construction ecological surveys and ongoing monitoring.
- Maintain a register of inspections, audits, and environmental controls.
- Provide environmental guidance and training to site teams.
- Client Representative Duties
- Act as the environmental and consents representative on site.
- Conduct site inspections and environmental audits.
- Monitor contractor compliance with environmental legislation and management plans.
- Support environmental incident reporting and investigations.
- Attend regular meetings and provide weekly updates to stakeholders.
- Ensure implementation of mitigation measures and environmental controls.
Project Scope Overview
- Construction of a major HVDC converter station and high-voltage substation.
- Associated works including earthworks, drainage, access, landscaping, and infrastructure.
- Multi-contractor environment requiring strong coordination and communication.
Qualifications
