TRS Staffing have a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Cable Project Engineer. The role will see you join the newly formed Offshore HVAC Project Engineering team to help drive forward projects and successfully deliver a network for Net Zero.
The Role
- Involved in detail design reviews, HAZCON / HAZOP sessions supporting construction, installation, commissioning and project completion.
- Providing cable engineering support by reviewing cable system designs including review and assessment of technology options, underground cable routing selection, producing current rating calculations using CYMCAP software and assessment of interface requirements.
- Developing technical scopes and specifications for subsea and underground cable elements including modifications to existing assets.
- Reviewing cable system prequalification and type testing reports in preparation for approval, reviewing and verifying contractor / consultant detailed underground cable system designs, witnessing factory and relevant discipline site acceptance testing.
- Providing technical support to site teams to ensure quality of installations and cable commissioning activities.
- Evaluate tenders and procure and manage specialist services from consultants.
- Promoting and managing safety within assigned projects through the implementation of CDM procedures and practices, ensuring the project engineering is compliant with company, HSE and industry regulations.
- Working closely with Engineering Managers and Project Managers to ensure that Engineering and Quality risks are identified and mitigated.
- Providing technical support on high profile projects or technically complex issues.
Your Profile
- Experience in transmission level cable projects, including document review, factory acceptance testing, installation and commissioning ideally up to 400kV including subsea and land cable, and be comfortable to technically assess issues and critically assess a range of technical solutions.
- An understanding of the legislation and implications for the Transmission network management for both Assets and Projects, including Construction Design Management & Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations.
- A problem-solving attitude with the strength of character to ensure critical matters are addressed by the project teams.
- Enthusiasm combined with excellent communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate diligence and prioritise tasks.
- A degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or relevant technical experience and ideally be a Chartered Engineer or working towards professional accreditation with a relevant institution.
