A leading UK high street supplier is seeking a fashion led Ladies Athleisure/Sportswear Designer to join its central London design team. Reporting into an Account Manager, this role offers an excellent opportunity for a talented designer to develop their skills, receive thorough training, and progress within a supportive and fast-paced environment. You will have a great eye for trends and be passionate about creating fashion forward Athleisure. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating trend-led, commercially viable ranges for major retail customers.
Main Responsibilities will include:
- Support the planning and design of ladies' athleisure and sportswear ranges
- Create CAD designs for both customer presentations and internal ranges
- Develop accurate tech packs to ensure sample precision
- Contribute to seasonal trend packs, including shapes, fabrics, colours, graphics, and mood direction
- Conduct regular shop reports for competitor and market analysis
- Proactively research and source new fabrics and trims
- Participate in seasonal inspiration trips, including potential international travel
- Liaise with internal merchandising teams in Shanghai
- Build and maintain strong relationships with buying teams
- Maintain and update sample trackers
- Keep fabric and trim libraries organised and current
- Ensure digital systems (e.g. OneDrive) are up to date
- General office administration, including post and maintaining rails and folders
- Continuously develop skills, including learning new software such as AI tools
Person Specification:
- Experience in ladieswear design is essential
- Previous exposure to sportswear is preferred but not essential
- Strong CAD skills, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
- Working knowledge of Excel; AI software skills are advantageous
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to design commercially viable yet trend-forward ranges
- Comfortable working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong team player with a proactive approach
- Positive, motivated, and determined attitude
