Our client is looking to appoint an experienced Clothing Technologist to join the team. This is a key role within a B2B wholesale environment, focused on maintaining bulk quality, technical consistency and compliance across established product ranges rather than working on a constant flow of new fashion-led styles. This opportunity would suit a technologist with strong experience in high-volume bulk manufacturing, product testing and customer-facing technical support.
The successful candidate will act as the link between overseas factories and UK wholesale customers, ensuring garments meet quality standards, compliance requirements and performance expectations, while also handling technical queries in a clear, practical and customer-focused way.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing bulk quality standards across established garment ranges including workwear, leisurewear and hi-vis product.
- Reviewing lab dips, shade approvals and test reports to ensure consistency and compliance across production.
- Acting as the first point of contact for technical customer queries, handling issues such as fabric faults, construction concerns and quality complaints in a professional and solutions-focused way.
- Investigating product issues, identifying root causes and coordinating follow-up actions with factories, warehouse and internal teams.
- Creating and maintaining quality procedures in line with company standards and global requirements.
- Managing compliance documentation including SEDEX, BSCI and organic or sustainable certifications.
- Liaising closely with overseas factories to ensure product meets required standards.
- Supporting internal teams including Customer Service, Sales and Warehouse with technical guidance and product issue resolution.
Person specification:
- Previous experience in a garment technologist role within bulk manufacturing, wholesale or high-volume production.
- Strong understanding of fabric testing, AQL, sealing processes, quality control and decoration methods including embroidery, screen print and transfer applications.
- Confident handling technical customer queries with clear, structured and customer-focused communication.
- Good knowledge of knitted or woven fabrics, with working knowledge of the other, alongside pattern construction and technical problem-solving ability.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail, accurate technical record keeping, and an understanding of sustainable or ethical compliance standards and relevant software such as CAD or Adobe.
