An experienced Clothing Technologist is required to take ownership of product quality, technical standards and compliance across a vertically integrated apparel operation. This role acts as the key technical link between overseas factories and the UK function, ensuring garments consistently meet required performance, fit and ethical standards.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Managing lab dip approvals and overseeing shade consistency across bulk production
- Developing and maintaining a comprehensive quality assurance plan aligned to global standards
- Acting as the first point of contact for technical customer queries relating to fabric, fit and construction
- Overseeing AQL processes, sealing procedures and evaluation of lab test reports against UK and overseas standards
- Managing compliance documentation including SEDEX, BSCI and organic or sustainable certifications
- Working closely with overseas factories to maintain quality standards and resolve technical issues
- Collaborating with Sales, Customer Service and Warehouse teams to investigate and resolve product concerns
- Maintaining accurate size charts, grading specifications and technical documentation
Person specifications:
- Minimum five years' experience in a similar Clothing Technologist role within apparel
- Degree or diploma in Clothing, Garment Technology or Textiles
- Strong technical knowledge of knitted or woven fabrics, including lab dip and shade approval experience
- Solid understanding of AQL, garment sealing processes and UK and overseas testing standards
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage technical discussions with customers and overseas factories
