We have an exciting opportunity for a creative and commercially driven Childrenswear Designer to join a fast-paced, high-volume supplier working with some of the UK's leading high street retailers and supermarkets.

Specialising in trend-led, fashion-forward childrenswear , the business is looking for a designer who is passionate about the industry, has their finger firmly on the pulse of emerging trends, and can translate creative ideas into commercially successful product ranges.

This is a highly customer-facing role , so the ideal candidate will be confident, personable and commercially aware, with the ability to build strong relationships and present creative concepts effectively to key accounts.

This role is based in Leicester and offers a hybrid working arrangement, with 2-3 days per week required in the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design multi-product childrenswear ranges for a broad portfolio of leading UK highstret retailers.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider design team to develop commercially relevant seasonal collections inspired by the latest trends.
  • Proactively drive product development, responding quickly to market trends, customer requirements and commercial opportunities.
  • Research and interpret key trends across colour, print, graphics, fabric and styling, translating these into customer-specific design concepts.
  • Create accurate and detailed technical packs, ensuring clear design specifications and a smooth transition into production.
  • Present design concepts, ranges and product developments confidently and professionally to customers.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their vision, requirements and target market, ensuring designs are both creative and commercially viable.
  • Collaborate with overseas design and production teams to ensure the original design intent is maintained throughout the product development process.
  • Stay up to date with emerging childrenswear trends, competitor activity, retail direction and wider fashion influences.

Person Specification

  • Proven experience in a childrenswear design role , ideally within a fast-paced supplier or high-volume retail environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a clear understanding of the UK childrenswear market.
  • Excellent knowledge of trend forecasting, fabric innovation, colour, print and product development .
  • Proficient in

Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop .

  • A strong creative eye with the ability to balance fashion-forward design with commercial requirements.
  • Confident and articulate, with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable in a customer-facing role and able to build strong, trusted relationships with key accounts.
  • Highly organised, proactive and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
  • A collaborative team player who can work effectively with both internal and overseas design and production teams.
