Our client is a leading supplier to some of the UK’s most recognisable high street and supermarket retailers. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced and highly creative Girlswear Designer to join their London-based design team. This is an exciting opportunity to work across fashion-forward girlswear collections for major accounts. The successful candidate will play a key role within the design department, leading the creative direction of the girlswear category and working closely with customers to deliver trend-led, commercially successful ranges at pace.
Main Responsibilities
- Designing trend-led girlswear collections.
- Driving the creative direction for the girlswear category and leading customer presentations.
- Researching and interpreting seasonal fashion trends, colours, fabrics, graphics and silhouettes.
- Creating commercially relevant ranges tailored to individual retailer requirements.
- Working closely with Buyers and building relationships.
- Producing detailed CADs, technical packs and design specifications.
- Collaborating with merchandising, sales and production teams to ensure smooth product development.
- Working closely with overseas factories and suppliers throughout the development process.
- Presenting concepts, trend boards and range proposals directly to customers.
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the design team where required.
- Ensuring all collections align with customer briefs, cost targets and critical path deadlines.
Person Specification
- Proven experience in a Girlswear Designer position within a supplier, retailer or fashion business.
- Strong experience designing childrenswear, ideally girlswear.
- A strong commercial eye combined with excellent trend awareness.
- Experience working with short lead-time supply chains is preferred.
- Strong presentation and customer-facing skills.
- Highly proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A collaborative team player with the confidence to take ownership of a key product category.
