We are family owned business that is going through an exciting period of cultural change. We have 2 sites in LS10 that are 1/2 mile apart. We manufacture mayonnaise, along with a comprehensive range of prepped, dressed salads such as coleslaw, potato salad, pasta salads and dips.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to widen their experience to cover environment and risk management. Or indeed for someone currently in a similar role to bring their skills and ideas to a new organisation.

The role covers both our sites and responsibilities include:

Safety

  • Advise on governance and legal compliance under the H&S at work Act 1974 and the companies ESG commitments, current and utilising Horizon scanning for future compliance expectations
  • Review and develop the Occupational Health and Safety management system.
  • Manage business risk assessment and opportunities for improvement.
  • Review and approve Operational safe systems of work where appropriate.
  • Audit all regulatory paperwork and systems and training
  • Be the main contact for key stakeholders including Insurers and HSE.
  • Liaise with the Engineering Manager and contractors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain ISO45001 accreditation standard and ensure any external risk surveys at site are carried out to a successful outcome.
  • Develop and Implement Environmental Programs: Create and oversee environmental management systems that outline processes and procedures for minimizing environmental impact and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor Environmental Performance: Regularly assess the organization’s environmental performance, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations.
  • Advise on Environmental Issues: Provide guidance to management and staff on environmental best practices and compliance requirements, helping to reduce operational costs and environmental risks.
  • Conduct Audits and Assessments: Perform environmental audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Engage with Stakeholders: Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and community organizations, to promote environmental initiatives and foster positive relationships.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop training programs to educate employees about environmental policies and practices, ensuring that all staff are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Provide periodic reports on compliance with actions to improve performance and compliance.

The successful candidate will hold NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent; Minimum of 3 years Health and Safety Management experience within a food manufacturing environment.
