This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated Energy and Sustainability team in one of the UK's most distinctive law firms, working on some of the most innovative and impactful transactions in the domestic energy market.
The Role
- Advising developers, landlords/landowners and operators on the procurement, negotiation and management of heat networks (including concessions, supply agreements, outsourced services and ongoing regulatory compliance).
- Advising on energy projects, including solar, wind and battery storage.
- Advising on large scale retrofit programmes (including grant funded, 'Energy as a Service' and subscription models).
- Advising on microgrids and private wire arrangements.
- Support on regulatory issues relating to electricity (generation, distribution and supply) and heat networks.
- Advising on utility connections including ICP and IDNO arrangements.
- Advising on Power Purchase Agreements ,Heat Supply Agreements and other energy related contracts.
- Advising on EV Chargepoints and related infrastructure.
- Active participation in marketing and business development initiatives, including contributing to articles, events and client seminars relevant to the energy sector.
- Building and maintaining effective client relationships and contributing to the development of the team's profile in the market.
The Candidate
- Candidates with up to 4 years' relevant post qualification experience gained from a reputable
firm or in-house. - A seat or demonstrable experience in an energy, projects or other equivalent commercial department
- Experience on regulatory issues relating to utilities.
- Experience of reviewing and advising on energy projects and/or complex commercial transactions. Specific experience on heat network projects is beneficial.
- Excellent technical skills and attention to detail
- Strong client focus and the ability to build and maintain client relationships
- Ability to prioritise work effectively and meet deadlines
- Ability to deal with innovative structures and bespoke documents
- Drive, enthusiasm, and collaborative approach
- Commercial awareness
- Excellent academic record
