We’re looking for an exceptional Science Education & Innovation Lead to help bring Tropic’s science to life. This is a rare opportunity to join a purpose-led beauty brand with its own labs, chemists and UK manufacturing facility — and to help tell the story of how high-performance, conscious beauty is really made. We’re making a multi-million-pound investment into proprietary ingredient technologies for skin, scalp and hair, and we need someone to translate that work into powerful education that excites consumers and empowers our Ambassador community.
You’ll be a confident scientific communicator with a strong background in chemistry, cosmetic science, dermatology, pharmacy or a related discipline — comfortable making complex formulations and ingredients feel clear, credible and genuinely compelling. This role combines scientific rigour with natural communication skills: you’ll contribute to proprietary ingredient development from concept through to launch, while making that science exciting for consumers and Ambassadors alike.
Key Responsibilities- Science education and content
- Create compelling science-led education for consumers, Ambassadors and our wider community
- Lead on-camera content — ingredient explainers, tutorials, live sessions and behind-the-scenes storytelling
- Translate technical formulation detail into simple, memorable product education
- Build trust through accurate, accessible explanations of product claims, ingredient choices and sustainability
- Innovation and proprietary ingredient development
- Work closely with Tropic’s R&D team and external research partners on new proprietary ingredient technologies
- Support the creation of scientific narratives around new actives and formulation breakthroughs
- Bridge early-stage scientific work with consumer-facing launch storytelling
- Areas of focus include green chemistry, biotechnology, biofermentation, skin barrier science, scalp health and hair performance
- Product and formulation storytelling
- Work across R&D, marketing and brand teams to articulate the science behind Tropic’s formulas
- Explain key ingredients, active levels, delivery systems and performance testing
- Create education around skin, scalp and hair concerns including hydration, barrier support, ageing, pigmentation and hair strength
- Support product launches with ingredient deep-dives, training materials and consumer-facing content
- Green beauty science leadership
- Champion Tropic’s approach to high-performance, conscious formulation
- Communicate how green chemistry challenges outdated assumptions about natural beauty
- Keep Tropic ahead of the curve on advances in cosmetic science, dermatology and sustainable formulation
You may be a cosmetic scientist, chemist, pharmacist, PhD researcher, dermatologist, trichologist or experienced scientific communicator within beauty, skincare, haircare or health.
Essential- Formal qualification in chemistry, cosmetic science, dermatology, pharmacy, biochemistry, trichology or a related field
- Proven ability to communicate complex science clearly and engagingly to non-specialist audiences
- A confident, credible and natural on-camera presence
- Strong interest in green chemistry, sustainable formulation and conscious beauty
- Ability to work closely with R&D teams, chemists, product developers and external laboratories
- Strong scientific judgement — accurate and compelling without overclaiming
- The warmth and enthusiasm to educate both consumers and a large Ambassador community
- PhD, medical qualification or recognised expert status in skin, scalp or hair science
- Hands‑on experience in cosmetic science, dermatology, trichology or personal care R&D
- Experience creating science-led social content, educational videos, webinars or live training
- Experience with proprietary ingredient development, clinical testing or claims substantiation
- Familiarity with barrier science, microbiome, peptides, exosomes, bioactives or skinification trends
