Job Purpose
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Commercial team on a 12‑month fixed term contract as a Communications Manager. This key position will lead Tropic’s Internal and External Communications Strategy. In this role you will implement and manage the internal and external communications strategies within Tropic, aligned with maintaining a consistent brand image whilst maximising Tropic’s visibility and exposure. As a young, growing company, we are looking for someone with a “can‑do” attitude and a willingness to work with agility across a variety of tasks. Ideally, you will understand the dynamics of a matrixed environment, including working with external suppliers and contractors, and maintaining the required standards set by the strategy.
Responsibilities
- Implement and manage Tropic’s internal and external communications strategies.
- Manage key messages that communicate Tropic’s voice to employees, the public and stakeholders.
- Manage the company’s corporate communications, press activity and public affairs.
- Oversee content creation across all channels (press releases, blogs, website updates, newsletters, social media and external agencies).
- Oversee the company brand: ensure consistency in tone, messaging and visuals across all templates and assets.
- Keep the Tropic and GEiGS® websites updated with all news, events and product details.
- Oversee the company’s events calendar, including invitations, speaking opportunities and exhibitions.
- Be responsible for tracking and monitoring expenditure against a detailed, planned budget, and allocate tasks according to available resources and company/regional priorities.
Requirements
- Core knowledge
- Proven track record in a Communications role, leading organisational communication strategies.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and influence discussions to achieve effective outcomes.
- Implementation and use of digital communication tools.
- Management of external collaborators and team members.
- Formal qualification in Communications.
- Experience in the Life Sciences or Bio-tech industry.
- Experience working within a start-up or growth‑stage environment.
