The Role

We are recruiting a Senior Financial Accountant to play a key role within our Finance team at a complex chemical manufacturing site. This position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, maintaining a strong financial control environment, and delivering accurate statutory and management accounting information to support business decision-making. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Commercial, and Site Leadership teams, you will provide financial expertise and insight within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for statutory reporting, balance sheet governance, audit management, and continuous improvement of financial processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This role offers an excellent opportunity to influence financial strategy, support operational performance, drive process improvements, and contribute to the success of a leading chemical manufacturing business.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed monthly financial statement reviews, analysing variances and completing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain general ledger accounts, including posting accruals and journals in SAP on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of year-end statutory accounts and financial reporting requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, managing audit processes from planning through to completion.
  • Ensure strong financial controls, governance, and compliance are maintained across all accounting and reporting activities.
  • Maintain compliance with IFRS, local GAAP, and Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Support effective cash flow management and working capital initiatives.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and act as a trusted advisor on complex accounting matters.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and effectiveness across finance operations.
  • Collaborate with finance and business stakeholders to support decision-making and business performance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent).
  • Significant experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting, and audit management.
  • Experience operating within a manufacturing, chemical, industrial, or similarly complex environment is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, local GAAP, and financial control frameworks.
  • Experience using SAP or other ERP systems.
