Internal Audit is part of Trócaire's Directorate and is a small, trusted team working across the organisation and its overseas programmes. In this role, you will gain exposure to strategic priorities while delivering practical, hands‑on audit work. You will partner with senior leaders and teams across Trócaire to strengthen governance and accountability, and you will see how strong controls protect resources and support our impact for the communities we serve.

Role Summary: You will report to the Head of Internal Audit and will manage a small Internal Audit team. The position is a fixed‑term (three years) contract, based in Maynooth, Ireland or Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver a high‑quality programme of internal audit work, including overseas travel.
- Partner with senior leaders and teams to strengthen governance, accountability and control systems.
- Translate audit insights into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Lead and develop the internal audit team, ensuring professional growth and effective performance.
- Ensure compliance with donor and internal audit standards and risk frameworks.
Requirements: The role requires an internationally recognised Chartered Internal Audit qualification or an equivalent professional accounting qualification with a minimum of five years post‑qualification experience. You must have strong knowledge of internal audit standards and risk/control frameworks, the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and locations, and the planning and people‑management skills to deliver a high‑quality programme of work. Experience in the NGO/international development context, donor compliance, data analytics/audit tools or additional languages is beneficial but not essential.
