As a Senior Experiential Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing medium to large scale event activities across varied clients – mainly in the UK but occasionally overseas. Excellent Project Delivery is the focus of your role, leading small to large teams on a project by project basis. You will be involved in the planning from concept development with the guidance of the Experiential Director working closely with Creative, Production and Logistical teams whilst taking responsibility for budgeting each project, forecasting and managing results.
You will be a strong client lead, potentially owning the relationship at times, responsible for maintaining communication throughout your project team and mentoring junior members of the wider activation team.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Projects – overall responsibility for the day to day managing of an event varying in project and team size. From brief through to final financial reconciliation and implementation of measurement strategies. Managing the critical path with full understanding of the creative process, production and logistics departments. Confident in problem solving / crisis management with innovative solutions.
- Clients – the experiential lead and day to day contact on allocated project work, ensuring client requests are delivered on time, on budget on brand and meet the measurement objectives. You will be expected to set the agenda and drive forward actions throughout the duration of the project.
- People management – you may be expected to take on line manager responsibilities as well as managing other staff ensuring all deliver against their roles and responsibilities demonstrating best practice, for both TRO and Freelances, working on your projects.
- Finance – Experience in building and managing budget and payment schedules in their entirety whilst understanding any financial constraints. Ensuring budget transparency between client and TRO presenting cost efficiencies where possible, confident in discussing financials with clients and monitor and track changes throughout.
Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Project delivery – as a strong Senior Experiential Project Manager, you may be working on more than one event at a time therefore good time management is vital component to your role. Set team structure to establish accountabilities and lines of communication. Track progress of the project(s), managing client expectations. Be confident in problem solving/crisis management with innovative solutions. Manage project resource requirements.
- Communication – lead by example with appropriately pitched and succinct communications. Have the ability to quickly distil information to give relevant context. Understand the key information required by colleagues and clients. Ability to communicate concisely upwards and downwards within TRO. Able to help clients sell ideas to their senior management in writing or face to face.
- Client – you will have a good understanding of your client’s industry and business challenges plus an understanding of the agency / client contract perimeters. Understand the ways of working for these brands and intricacies of systems and processes surrounding client event activity. Good presentation skills are required with an attention to detail.
- Industry – Thorough understanding of the brand experience/experiential landscape – latest trends and techniques. Must demonstrate understanding of the role of marketing within a broader business context, aid the development of the agency’s relationship with the client and identify opportunities to increase revenue.
- Financial & Legal – an understanding of the overall financial management of the agency and appropriate rates and profitability margins. Track record of managing budget and fee approval with client, ensuring that the project resource is appropriate for fee level.
- Leadership – responsible, open team leader, who leads by example empowering their team to make their own decisions. Responsible for team motivation, development and retention. Identify individual skillsets and new opportunities. Capability to set clear objectives, delegate, coach and give feedback to direct reports and colleagues working on your client work in all areas relevant to their development
- Commercial awareness – understand agency proposition and how a client’s business functions financially adhering to procurement processes and protection of margin and commitment to profit for all parties. Stay up to date with competitor industry insights.
- Driving – hold a full clean driving license, good experience of driving cars and of travel around UK, comfortable driving different cars, safe and competent with good driving record. Ideally able to drive a van safely
