From Fivetran’s founding until now, our mission has remained the same: to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity.

With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required.

We’re proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven.

About Us

Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together two industry-leading companies with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data.

Together, we’re delivering the data infrastructure layer that helps organizations move, transform, and trust their data — from the moment data moves, through every transformation, to the context teams and AI systems rely on.

As we bring our teams and technology together, we’re building on the strengths of both companies while continuing to deliver the products and experiences our customers know and trust.

It’s an exciting time to join us: we’re creating a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help more organizations put their data to work with greater speed, confidence, and impact.

During this transition period, you may see references to both Fivetran and dbt Labs throughout our recruiting process as we integrate our teams, systems, and career sites.

Fivetran is building the infrastructure that powers analytics and AI.

We’re looking for a New Business Commercial Account Executive to help more companies across DACH move, trust and use their data at scale.

About The Role

A Staff Solutions Architect is a senior pre-sales technical leader who partners with sales, customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to shape technical strategy, design strong dbt-centered solutions, and convert technical progress into predictable commercial outcomes.

The role includes the full Senior Solutions Architect foundation and adds broader scope, deeper architectural leadership, stronger influence across complex accounts, and greater contribution to reusable patterns, enablement, and field standards.

This role is well suited to someone who enjoys creating opportunities as much as closing them.

You’ll play a hands‑on role in outbound prospecting, shaping your own pipeline and guiding customers through thoughtful, consultative sales conversations.

This is a high‑ownership role with significant autonomy and responsibility from day one.

What you’ll do

  • Lead technical discovery to understand business drivers, technical context, constraints, decision process, and success criteria.
  • Run product demonstrations, workshops, evaluations, and proof‑oriented engagements that map dbt capabilities to real customer problems.
  • Design pragmatic solution architectures spanning dbt, warehouses, orchestration, BI, governance, and adjacent ecosystem tooling.
  • Partner closely with account teams on qualification, technical win criteria, risks, next steps, and forecast accuracy.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor for analytics engineers, data engineers, architects, and technical decision-makers.
  • Communicate complex topics clearly in both written and verbal form, adapting depth and framing to the audience.
  • Support customer adoption and expansion by connecting technical outcomes to additional use cases and long‑term platform value.
  • Model dbt values through professionalism, curiosity, accountability, collaboration, and a growth mindset.

What differentiates a Staff Solutions Architect

  • In addition to the responsibilities above, a Staff Solutions Architect is expected to:
  • Consistently frame strong early technical angles that improve pipeline quality and qualification.
  • Uncover root causes, decision processes, and hidden constraints in varied and often complex customer situations.
  • Use the sales process deliberately to structure technical work, maintain clear status, and provide actionable risk assessments.
  • Engage as a credible peer on design, performance, maintainability, and architecture trade‑offs across the modern data stack.
  • Deliver well‑phased architectures that reflect organizational complexity, adoption realities, governance needs, and long‑term evolution.
  • Design strong integration approaches across multiple warehouses, orchestrators, BI tools, and partner technologies.
  • Equip champions with compelling narratives, proof points, and technical materials that help advance initiatives internally.
  • Maintain a complete and comprehensible view of deals, workload, and technical milestones that improves forecasting quality.
  • Generate reusable demos, templates, write‑ups, patterns, and assets that other SAs can adopt and adapt.
  • Build strong cross‑functional partnerships across sales, product, marketing, success, partners, and the broader SA organization.
  • Influence how dbt‑centric architecture patterns are defined, scaled, and reused beyond a single account or territory.

Skills we’re looking for

A strong candidate for this role will typically bring

  • Experience in pre‑sales, solutions architecture, sales engineering, or a comparable customer‑facing technical role.
  • Strong understanding of dbt, analytics engineering, SQL, data transformation, and modern cloud data platforms.
  • Ability to lead technical strategy in complex enterprise opportunities with multiple stakeholders and moving parts.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, balancing short‑term deal support with long‑term architectural quality, and operating in a fast‑changing environment.
  • Evidence of mentoring, force‑multiplying peers, or creating assets and practices that improve team effectiveness.
  • Strong executive communication, technical storytelling, and written documentation skills.

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
