The Role…

At Soho House, a Sound Engineer is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of all audio systems to ensure exceptional sound quality for members, guests, and events. You will work closely with the events, AV, and technical teams to deliver seamless audio experiences for live performances, presentations, and in-house productions.

You will have a strong background in audio engineering and implementation along with a good working knowledge of the latest technologies and best practice. You must possess in-depth knowledge, expertise and experience in at least one of our core disciplines with a willingness to learn and grow your expertise in other areas. You should have an excellent working knowledge of general production techniques including IT, rigging, power distribution & data.

The role is heavily client facing so you must be a confident communicator with a desire to deliver the best service standards possible. Due to the nature of the hospitality and live events industry working hours will be flexible and will include evening and weekend work

Key duties…

  • Set up, operate, and maintain audio equipment for events, performances, and regular club operations.
  • Mix and adjust sound levels for live and recorded events to ensure optimal audio quality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve audio and technical issues promptly.
  • Maintain and manage all sound equipment, ensuring it is in excellent working order.
  • Collaborate with event planners, performers, and technical teams to meet audio requirements.
  • Support installation and testing of new AV or sound systems as required.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, electrical, and operational standards.
  • Keep accurate logs of equipment maintenance, faults, and technical setups.
  • Provide guidance or training to junior AV or technical staff as needed.
  • Assist with room or venue acoustics adjustments to enhance sound performance.

What we are looking for…

  • Proven experience as a Sound Engineer, Audio Technician, or similar role.
  • Knowledge of live sound mixing, audio recording, and AV systems.
  • Experience with soundboards, microphones, speakers, and audio software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and technical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Awareness of health & safety regulations in a technical environment.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions

The salary range for this role if filled within the UK is listed below. The range for the position in different geographies may vary based on market differences.
