Role Summary

Reporting directly to the Protocol Venue Manager, the Protocol Venue Deputy Manager will be an experienced event protocol professional with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with a background in developing strong working relationships and leading protocol operations in a multi-sport events environment a distinct advantage. The ideal candidate will have exceptional problem-solving abilities, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to delivering a world-class visitor experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Working arrangements

The role will initially be based at the Organising Company’s Glasgow city centre office, with visits to competition venues as required to support the effective delivery of responsibilities. As the Games approach, the role will transition to being primarily based at your assigned competition venue. The position is initially contracted for 37.5 hours per week (with a 30-minute lunch break), with office attendance aligned to the Organising Company’s working pattern. During the Games-time operational period, shift patterns will apply and may include evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and management of Games Family Lounge operation and oversee hospitality services on venue.
  • Support the management of Games Family seating area and coordination of VIP visits (including but not limited to Protected Persons).
  • Support the security operations and personnel relating to Internationally Protected Persons if they attend venues.
  • Using the medal presenter schedule, ensure that all medal presenters are escorted to the medal presentation holding area at the pre-determined time.

Experience

A minimum of 5 years experience of leading and delivering Protocol Management roles at a previous Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games, similar multi-sport international events, or other high profile international events. Demonstrated experience of leading the planning and delivery of protocol at a major event with multiple stakeholder involvement. Knowledge and experience of sustainable event practices.
