The Logistics Functional Area is responsible for identifying, scoping, storing, delivering, recovering, and disposing of the materials required to stage the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. Reporting directly to the Logistics Manager, the Logistics Deputy Manager will support the planning, implementation, and delivery of venue logistics operations at a specific competition venue or precinct.

Working arrangements: The role will initially be based at the Organising Company’s Glasgow city centre office, with visits to competition venues as required to support the effective delivery of responsibilities. As the Games approach, the role will transition to being primarily based at your assigned competition venue. The position is initially contracted for 37.5 hours per week (with a 30-minute lunch break), with office attendance aligned to the Organising Company’s working pattern. During the Games-time operational period, shift patterns will apply and may include evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Logistics Manager with planning and implementing Logistics operational plans for allocated venue/s within time critical deadlines.
  • Provide logistics advice and support to Functional Areas, staff, external suppliers, and contractors, as required.
  • Assist in maintaining up to date and accurate records, documentation, and complete daily reports.
  • Meet milestones with regards to scheduling, resource scoping, health and safety, and training.
  • Assist with asset tracking (including Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment), distribution in venue, setup/breakdown of spaces and return materials post event.
  • Assist with the management of venue deliveries, resources, fuel, and vehicles.
  • Assist with the management of the Master Delivery Schedule on venue, coordinating with relevant Functional Areas.
  • Attend venue management daily briefings as a Logistics representative, when required, ensuring smooth and seamless back-of-house operations at an assigned venue.
  • Act as lead point of contact for Logistics operations at your venue as required by the Logistics Manager.
  • Assist in the transition of sporting related events, if required, at your venue.
  • Work closely with the Logistics Coordination Centre and relevant Games Time Operations Hub to operate the logistics services at venues appropriately, consistently and in line with the overarching strategic plan.
  • Solve problems and make critical decisions independently without supervision.
  • Assist with the management, motivation, training and support of logistics contractors and present at logistics team daily briefings.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area on venue and ensure all health and safety standards; policies and procedures are adhered to.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

  • Experience: Knowledge of logistics operations, ideally in a major event or multi-sport competition environment.
  • Ability to support the delivery of operational plans under fixed deadlines.
  • Experience managing diverse workforces, including contractors and crew.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and resolve issues effectively.
