Reporting directly to the Event Venue General Manager for Trivandi's onsite delivery and the Senior Protocol Manager for OC wide Protocol Operations, the Protocol Venue Manager will be an experienced event protocol professional with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with a background in developing strong working relationships and leading protocol operations in a multi-sport events environment a distinct advantage. The ideal candidate will have exceptional problem-solving abilities, a proactive mindset, strong customer service skills and a commitment to delivering a world-class visitor experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Working arrangements
The role will initially be based at the Organising Company’s Glasgow city centre office, with visits to competition venues as required to support the effective delivery of responsibilities. As the Games approach, the role will transition to being primarily based at your assigned competition venue. The position is initially contracted for 37.5 hours per week (with a 30-minute lunch break), with office attendance aligned to the Organising Company’s working pattern. During the Games-time operational period, shift patterns will apply and may include evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Fulfil the role of Venue Protocol Manager at a designated competition venue ensuring the experience for all Games Family guests is met to the agreed principles and service levels.
- Manage the Games Family Lounge at a designated competition venue ensuring agreed service levels are met particularly as it relates to catering, cleaning and capacity management.
- Management of Games Family seating area ensuring only Games Family guests are permitted into this area and ensuring capacity is adhered to.
- Support with and lead the venue coordination of Dignitary visits during Games time including any advance visits or route planning required.
- Support the security operations and personnel relating to Internationally Protected Persons if they attend venues.
- Manage a team of venue protocol volunteers.
- Using the medal presenter schedule, ensure that all medal presenters are escorted to the medal presentation holding area at the pre-determined time.
- Escalate any issues through the required VGM and Protocol Coordination Centre escalation points.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years experience of leading and delivering Protocol or Hospitality operational roles at previous events or venues.
- Previous Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games, similar multi-sport international events, or other high profile international events would be an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience of working with or supporting high profile Dignitary visits.
- Experience in working with and managing volunteers.
- Experience in working in fast paced, collaborative event or project environments.
- Knowledge and experience of sustainable event practices.
