Reporting to the Project Lead – Strategy and Service Integration, the Protocol Integration Manager will play a key role in supporting the planning, integration and delivery of protocol operations for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games at Competition Venues. Working closely with multiple functional areas, venue teams and external stakeholders, the role ensures that venue protocol operations are fully integrated into operational plans and delivered during Games Time.

This role requires an experienced event professional, who has strong client relationship and customer service skills with a background in protocol or hospitality operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and decision making skills, experience in managing volunteers, strong relationship management skills, and ideally have experience in protocol or hospitality operations in a multi-sport events environment.

Working arrangements: The role will commence in the Organising Company's Glasgow city centre office, with visits required to competition venues to fully deliver the responsibilities of the role. The location for the role will transition to be based at a competition venue as we approach the Games. The role will be contracted for 40 hours per week, with requirements to be in the office aligned to the Organising Company's planned working pattern. All travel to your place of work will be at your own cost. During the Games operational period, shift patterns are likely to be required which could include weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the final stages of planning for venue protocol operations and act as the integration lead for the EDP protocol functional area, liaising with key functional areas (OC Protocol Team, Venue Management, Security, Commercial and Hospitality, Sports Presentation and Medal Ceremonies, Catering Cleaning & Recycling).
  • Finalise all protocol venue planning requirements including operational documentation, Games Family Lounge and other venue specific protocol related plans and documents.
  • Manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring all protocol milestones are met.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training for EDP staff; Assist with the onboarding and training of all Venue/Deputy Protocol Managers and volunteers who will fill Games Time roles.
  • Fill a Games Time role as the Venue Protocol Manager at one of the Glasgow 2026 Competition Venues.
  • Games time responsibilities include managing all protocol operations at a competition venue including the management of the Games Family Lounge and seating areas, coordination of VIP visits, and assisting with the management of the medal presenters program.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Experience:

  • Beneficial to have previous experience leading and delivering Protocol Management roles at a previous Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games, similar multi-sport international events, or other high-profile events with a dignitary or client focus.
  • Demonstrated experience of working with dignitaries or VIP clients.
  • Experience with management of protocol or hospitality lounges.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing volunteers.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, collaborative event or project environments.
