Our Sustainability Manager will play a key role in shaping and delivering this vision.

The role is responsible for developing and implementing plans to promote energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, enhance community resilience, and foster sustainable practices across Trivallis, which will enable us to operate in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner. This role involves collaborating with internal stakeholders, external partners, and community members to promote sustainable practices and drive positive environmental impacts. It will lead and manage sustainability initiatives to improve the environmental performance and social impact of our property portfolio.

About you…

  • Have a degree or equivalent in an environmental/sustainability related subject, or experience working within a similar field.
  • Have membership of a relevant professional body e.g.: IEMA or Energy Institute.
  • Have extensive experience and understanding of the issues surrounding climate change, energy management, environmental sustainability, and carbon reduction.
  • Hold a significant understanding of sustainability issues within the social housing sector including experience of improving performance across environmental, social and economic sustainability themes.
  • Have extensive experience of successfully developing and delivering Environmental and Sustainability plans.
  • Have experience of producing detailed written reports and presenting at a strategic & corporate level.
  • Have extensive experience of understanding Welsh Government grant funding criteria and process.

What you’ll be responsible for…

  • Designing comprehensive sustainability plans tailored to our housing stock, considering energy efficiency, waste reduction, and community well-being.
  • Setting clear sustainability objectives aligned with organisational goals and industry standards.
  • Identifying and implementing energy-saving measures and renewable energy solutions to reduce utility costs for tenants and reduce our carbon footprint.
  • Monitoring energy consumption and water usage, analysing data, and implementing improvements. Using data to help shape future investment programmes.
  • Assisting the Development Team on sustainable building design and retrofitting projects for development projects to achieve green building certifications.
  • Assisting with the collaboration with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate sustainable practices into construction and renovation plans.
  • Engaging with tenants, community-based organisations, and stakeholders to promote sustainable living practices, improve quality of life, and address social equity in housing.
  • Developing programs and initiatives that enhance community resilience and well-being.
  • Implementing waste management strategies to reduce waste generation, increase recycling rates, and minimize environmental impact in social housing communities.
  • Staying informed about environmental regulations, energy efficiency standards, and social housing policies.
  • Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) to track sustainability progress and outcomes.
  • Analysing data, preparing reports, and presenting findings to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Collaborating with external partners, government agencies, and non-profit organizations to leverage resources and access funding for sustainability projects.
  • Building strategic partnerships to support social and environmental initiatives in social housing.
