This is a fantastic opportunity to join Triumph Motorcycles as a Category Buyer within our Chassis Purchasing team on a 12‑month contract, supporting the sourcing and development of key motorcycle components including seats, braking systems and tyres.
You will become part of a dynamic and ambitious team working at the heart of new model development and supplier strategy. Over this 12‑month assignment, you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced procurement professionals, share your own knowledge and experience, and make a visible contribution to world‑class motorcycles ridden by customers across the globe.
The Opportunity
As Category Buyer – Chassis, you will manage a defined group of suppliers and commodities, working closely with Engineering, Design, Quality, Product and Supply Chain teams to deliver the best commercial, technical and quality outcomes for Triumph. You will support sourcing decisions, supplier development, cost management and new model program delivery, ensuring Triumph continues to access the right technologies, the right suppliers and the right value for our motorcycles. This is an exciting role for someone who enjoys variety, problem solving and working cross‑functionally. You will be involved in supplier negotiations, quotation analysis, commodity strategy, program gateways and day‑to‑day supplier engagement.
Responsibilities
- Managing suppliers within the Chassis commodity area, with specific focus on seats, braking and tyres.
- Supporting the development and delivery of commodity strategies that achieve best value for Triumph.
- Identifying and evaluating suitable suppliers for new model programs and future technologies.
- Analyzing quotations, cost breakdowns and supplier proposals to support robust sourcing decisions.
- Working with Engineering, Design, Quality and Product teams to balance cost, quality, timing and technical requirements.
- Supporting sourcing and development activities through key program gateways.
- Building strong supplier relationships and driving supplier performance, capability and responsiveness.
- Identifying cost reduction and value engineering opportunities through negotiation, benchmarking and market insight.
- Maintaining a strong understanding of the global supply market for assigned commodities.
- Preparing reports, presentations and recommendations to support procurement and business decisions.
- Providing hands‑on support for supplier meetings, escalations and visits where required.
Qualifications
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation capability.
- The ability to understand and discuss technical requirements with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good analytical skills, with confidence reviewing cost data, quotations and supplier proposals.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to influence at different levels.
- A positive, proactive and can‑do approach.
- Strong organization, time management and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities across both urgent activities and longer‑term projects.
- Good IT skills, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- A willingness to travel when required to support suppliers, projects and business needs.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in purchasing, sourcing, program purchasing, supplier management or engineering.
- Experience within automotive, motorcycle, manufacturing or engineering sectors.
- A degree or equivalent experience in Business, Engineering, Procurement or a related discipline.
- An understanding of new product introduction, component development or low‑volume manufacturing would be beneficial.
