  • Policy Planning Officer
  • Pay Rate: £20.66-£23.37 per hour PAYE (DOE)
  • Hours per week: 37 Monday Friday, 9:00-17:00 Hybrid 2 days per week on site

Minimum 4-6 years' planning policy experience within a local authority or consultancy.

Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation, planning policy frameworks and Local Plan processes.

Experience supporting Local Plan preparation, monitoring and review.

Ability to provide clear, evidence-based planning policy advice.

Experience with Green Belt, open space policy and Examination in Public procedures is desirable.

To provide specialist planning policy advice and support the delivery of Stockport Council's statutory planning functions, including preparation and monitoring of the Local Plan and associated policy documents.

The role will ensure compliance with national and local planning legislation and contribute to strategic planning objectives.

Contribute to the preparation, monitoring and review of the Council's planning policies, ensuring statutory requirements are met.

Provide professional planning policy advice to colleagues, elected members, developers and the public.

Represent the Council's spatial planning interests throughout statutory plan-making processes, including Examination in Public.

Monitor and interpret changes in planning legislation, regulations and national guidance.

Support Development Management by providing policy input on major planning applications and pre-application enquiries.

Provide project support for the Local Plan.

Prepare reports, briefing notes and consultation responses on planning policy matters.

Minimum 4-6 years' planning policy experience within a local authority or consultancy environment.

Strong understanding of UK planning legislation, planning policy frameworks and Local Plan processes.

Ability to analyse complex planning issues and provide clear, evidence-based advice.

Experience of Green Belt and open space policy issues.
