Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Finance Lead with active SC Clearance to play a critical role in shaping financial governance, commercial strategy, and assurance across a complex programme. This is a high-impact position requiring strong collaboration across finance, commercial, and external partner teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with external advisers to challenge and validate financial assumptions, identifying gaps and areas requiring further analysis.
- Collaborate with the Commercial Lead, Finance teams, and VAT specialists to determine VAT treatment and flag potential operational impacts.
- Review and refine policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with project governance, Assurance Strategy, and control frameworks.
- Maintain and update Commercial Risk Logs, identifying financial risks and supporting the development and execution of mitigation strategies.
- Lead the development of the Finance and Economic Case within the broader Business Case.
- Build strong relationships with the Working Group, overseeing monthly MI reporting and data pack delivery.
- Engage with key stakeholders across Operational Finance and Financial Accounting to ensure robust expenditure tracking and controls.
- Lead financial discussions with external partners including private sector clients.
Essential Requirements
- Active SC Clearance
- AAT or CIMA qualification
- Proven experience in finance management and financial policy
- Strong stakeholder management skills (internal and external)
- Confidence presenting to senior stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring ability
- Experience engaging with financial systems, including ERP environments
