The role:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Application Support Officer to lead the day-to-day delivery of application support services for Bristol City Council. You'll manage a team of Application Support Officers, ensuring business-critical systems remain available, secure and continually improved. You'll play a key role in supporting NEC Housing applications, coordinating system upgrades, resolving incidents, implementing changes and working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver an excellent support service.
Key accountabilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of up to 10 Application Support Officers.
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of application support services.
- Oversee incidents, service requests and problem resolution.
- Coordinate system upgrades, maintenance and application releases.
- Configure and support NEC Housing applications.
- Drive service improvements and implement best practice.
- Build effective relationships with suppliers and business stakeholders.
- Monitor application performance and recommend improvements.
- Ensure high standards of data quality, security and GDPR compliance.
- Produce and analyse management information to support decision making.
- Escalate technical issues where appropriate.
- Support out-of-hours upgrades and technical activities when required.
Requirements/key criteria:
Essential:
- Extensive experience supporting NEC Housing applications.
- Experience delivering application support within a large organisation.
- Strong knowledge of NEC Housing modules and system configuration.
- Experience implementing application changes and continuous improvement.
- Ability to create and amend communications, alerts, Task Manager workflows and CRM functions.
- Experience managing incidents, requests and system upgrades.
- Strong stakeholder and supplier management skills.
- Experience leading or supervising technical support teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
Desirable:
- SQL knowledge with the ability to write or amend queries.
- Experience working within local government.
