We’re looking for an experienced Signals & Telecoms Team Leader to lead a skilled maintenance team delivering safe, efficient and high-quality inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal activities.
You’ll combine strong technical knowledge with hands-on leadership, taking responsibility for safety, quality, compliance, team performance and competence across a range of safety‑critical signalling assets.
Key responsibilities:
Lead and organise day-to-day team activities and workload
Promote a strong safety culture and safe systems of work
Oversee signalling inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal
Ensure work meets required standards, procedures and quality controls
Manage team competence, performance and development
Ensure vehicles, tools, plant and equipment are safe and fit for purpose
Produce operational and compliance reports
Work hands‑on with the team when required
Proven experience in signalling maintenance, faulting and inspection
Strong understanding of relevant standards, procedures and instructions, including NR/L3/SIG/10663 and NR/L3/SIG/11231
Experience leading, motivating and influencing a team
Strong communication and organisational skills
A clear commitment to safe working practices
Desirable: Relevant NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent experience, previous Team Leader experience, and willingness to drive operational vehicles.
Please note: This is a safety‑critical role involving days, nights, weekends and on‑call working. Medical assessment and drug & alcohol testing apply.
