We’re looking for a Systems Development and Training Officer to join the team to help ensure the business systems are efficient, effective, and fit for purpose. Working across both Education and Children’s Services, you’ll play a key role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing the electronic information systems. You’ll ensure these systems meet the evolving needs of the department and that users are fully trained and confident in using them effectively. You’ll work closely with the Performance and Systems Manager to respond to national and local initiatives, legislation, and best practice, helping to shape innovative solutions that improve how we record, analyse, and report information.
You will be experienced with strong expertise in computerised business and electronic information systems, particularly within children’s services, skilled in system development, training others and with excellent communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving abilities.
Key responsibilities:- Lead and deliver a programme of system development projects, providing end-to-end solutions to business challenges.
- Liaise with managers and system users to design, test, and implement new recording and reporting tools.
- Contribute to large-scale projects and lead on smaller developments within the Education and Children’s Services systems portfolio, ensuring all work is delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
- Provide system users with induction and ongoing training to promote confident and efficient system use.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the service to identify and implement opportunities where information systems can enhance front‑line delivery.
- Maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders to promote the work of the Systems team and ensure continuous improvement.
- Degree qualified, or significant vocational experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of computerised business systems in terms of functionality and capability.
- Proven written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with good negotiation and influencing skills.
- Authoritative understanding of electronic information and intelligence systems in children’s services.
- Ability to maintain and develop electronic information systems to solve business problems.
- High level of skill in the use of software applications that support performance information and intelligence reporting.
- Experience of developing electronic information systems and training individuals in their use.
