Are you an experienced Commercial & Procurement Lawyer looking for a challenging interim opportunity? Join a high-profile public sector organisation and provide expert legal advice across complex, high-value commercial, procurement, IP and contractual matters.

The Role

You will provide timely, practical and risk-based legal advice, supporting key business priorities and working closely with internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, grants, collaboration agreements and R&D agreements.
• Advising on a wide range of commercial, procurement, IP and contractual issues.
• Supporting contracting processes and providing advice to departments and senior stakeholders.
• Working as part of a team on high-value contractual disputes and litigation.
• Advising on procurement law, including framework agreements and complex contracts.
• Handling complex public law matters and high-value cases, often working to tight deadlines.
• Providing clear legal and policy advice to clients, with a strong focus on practical and achievable outcomes.
• Managing cases autonomously while knowing when to consult, collaborate or delegate.
• Keeping up to date with legal developments, procurement legislation and relevant policy issues.
• Understanding client priorities, resourcing requirements, risks and realistic timescales.

About You

You will be a confident and commercially minded lawyer with strong experience across commercial contracts, procurement law and contractual disputes. You will be comfortable handling complex matters, advising stakeholders at different levels and managing your own caseload in a demanding environment.

• Strong commercial and contract law experience.
• Significant public procurement law experience.
• Experience of drafting and negotiating complex/high-value agreements.
• Experience of contractual disputes and litigation.
• Knowledge of complex public law matters.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and deliver high-quality advice to deadlines.
