Key Requirements:
- Degree level qualification in an appropriate role related area, such as Digital Media, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Creative Design or relevant work experience.
- Proven experience in writing and editing web content is a must.
- Ability to create or transform content into plain English for a range of different stakeholders.
- Experience of using M365 intranet to set up and maintain intranet sites and CMS (preferably Sitecore) to maintain the council website.
- Ability to work with various internal service teams to support the development of clear intranet content.
- Experience of form design following GDS design principles for online transactions.
- Understanding of web accessibility and experience applying guidelines to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
- Ability to manage a wide range of stakeholder requests effectively.
The postholder will play a key role in managing and developing the council’s digital presence, ensuring that digital content is relevant, up to date and easy to find. This role is predominantly focused on web and intranet content editing and creation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with colleagues across the council to ensure the Council’s website provides clear, accurate and engaging content.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the needs and expectations of stakeholders regarding their digital experience.
- Design and create wireframes and prototypes for online transactional forms and processes.
- Optimise digital content for search engines and use statistical analytics to inform decisions.
- Promote web accessibility throughout the council and ensure compliance with Web Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2 – Level AA).
- Use web analytic tools to identify users’ problems and share insights with colleagues and senior managers.
- Develop and deliver training materials in relation to web content creation and design.
