Triumph Consultants are looking for a Principal Accountant to support the Council’s financial management, including budget preparation and monitoring, final accounts, statutory returns and senior financial advice. Contract is for 2 months in Warwickshire CV32 7NP.
Pay Rate: £28.62 per hour PAYE

Key requirements:
- CCAB qualified accountant with at least 3 years’ relevant post-qualification public sector finance experience, or significant public sector experience with Senior AAT/part-qualified CCAB.
- Strong knowledge of local government finance, accounting codes, legislation and regulations.
- Confident using financial management systems and creating/managing complex spreadsheets.
- Experience working with senior officers, Members, external organisations and External Audit.
- Able to manage competing priorities, work independently and deliver accurate work to strict deadlines.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation, monitoring and reporting of Council budgets, ensuring statutory and financial requirements are met.
- Produce the annual Statement of Accounts and high-quality audit working papers within statutory deadlines.
- Provide senior financial advice to Members and officers, including the financial implications of proposals and decisions.
- Support statutory returns, grant claims and specialist areas such as treasury/capital, revenue budgets, housing accounts, financial systems or projects.
- Help develop financial systems and processes, manage relevant staff and deputise for the Strategic Finance Manager when required.
