About the role
We are looking for a Housing Assistant to support the Empty Homes Team in helping council homes get ready for new tenants quickly and efficiently. You will help manage empty properties by processing tenancy endings, arranging property adverts, monitoring repairs, and supporting the allocation of homes in line with council policy.
Key requirements
- Experience working in housing, customer service, administration, or a similar role
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Able to use computer systems and maintain accurate records
- GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Maths, or equivalent
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Key responsibilities
- Process tenancy terminations, key returns, and related administration
- Advertise empty properties and support the allocation process
- Monitor repairs and progress of empty homes to reduce re-let times
- Respond to customer enquiries by phone, email, and face to face
- Work with housing teams and partner agencies to support sustainable tenancies
