Triumph Consultants are looking for a Homelessness Prevention Officer for their client to support households who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will provide practical advice, assess housing needs and work with customers, landlords and partner agencies to help people secure and maintain suitable accommodation. Contract is for 1-2 months in Halifax, HX1 1QE.

Homelessness Prevention Officer

Pay Rate: £13.69 per hour PAYE

Enhanced DBS is required for this role.

Key requirements

• Knowledge of homelessness legislation, particularly Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Experience supporting people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to secure or maintain accommodation.
• Knowledge of housing options and services available to people facing homelessness..
• GCSE Grade C/4 or above in Maths and English, or equivalent experience.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

Key responsibilities

• Interview customers who are homeless or in housing need and provide clear advice on their housing options.
• Assess housing needs and develop Personalised Housing Plans, ensuring statutory duties are met.
• Manage a caseload and carry out practical homelessness prevention work, including negotiating with landlords, families and other organisations.
• Support customers to secure and sustain accommodation and prevent homelessness wherever possible.
• Build effective links with housing providers, voluntary organisations and partner agencies to improve outcomes for households.
