We are looking for an organised and motivated Administrative Democratic Services Officer to support the Council's democratic processes and electoral services. The role involves supporting meetings, elected members, elections, electoral registration, and a range of administrative duties. You will work closely with councillors, officers, parish councils, and members of the public to help ensure services are delivered effectively and in line with legal requirements.
Key Requirements
- Experience of committee administration and/or elections and electoral registration.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (knowledge of electoral management software such as Xpress Register is desirable).
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with councillors, colleagues and the public.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driving licence and flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Organise and support Council meetings, including preparing agendas, reports and minutes.
- Provide advice, guidance and administrative support to elected members and officers on democratic processes and procedures.
- Assist with elections, referenda, electoral registration activities and the annual canvass.
- Coordinate member training, conferences, travel arrangements and other democratic services activities.
- Support corporate projects, statistical returns, council publications and provide cover for colleagues when required.
