Role Description

This is a full-time, site-based Occupational Health Nurse role based in Middlesbrough. The Occupational Health Nurse will provide comprehensive workplace health services, including health surveillance, fitness-for-work assessments and case management for both work-related and non-work-related health matters.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include carrying out clinical assessments, delivering health promotion and wellbeing initiatives, maintaining accurate and confidential medical records, and advising managers on occupational health risks and appropriate workplace adjustments.

The role will also involve supporting return-to-work programmes, helping to ensure compliance with relevant UK health and safety legislation, and working collaboratively with HSE, HR and operational teams to improve workplace health outcomes.

The Occupational Health Nurse will contribute to the development of occupational health policies and procedures, support incident follow-up where health matters are involved, and provide appropriate health-related advice, training and guidance to employees and managers.

Qualifications

• Strong clinical background with nursing and medical knowledge relevant to occupational health practice.
• Specialist expertise in Occupational Health Nursing and occupational health, including health surveillance, fitness-for-work assessments and case management.
• Ability to deliver training and guidance on health, wellbeing and safe working practices to a diverse workforce.
• Current NMC registration and a recognised qualification in Occupational Health Nursing, or a closely related occupational health discipline.
• Experience working within an industrial, construction, infrastructure or other high-risk environment.
• Good working knowledge of relevant UK health and safety and occupational health legislation and guidance.
• Excellent communication, record-keeping and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
• Strong clinical decision-making skills, professional integrity and the ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary, site-based team.
