About Tritility

Tritility is a UK business energy consultancy based in Jarrow, supporting businesses with electricity, gas, water, energy management, sustainability and net zero solutions. The business works with customers across the UK to simplify energy procurement, improve visibility of spend and usage, and help organisations make better commercial decisions around their utilities. We are a growing SME of around 150 people, and we are entering an important next stage of our journey.

The Role

We are hiring a People Business Partner to help us build the next version of Tritility. This is not a slow moving HR role. It is a broad, hands on and commercially important People role in a business with pace, change and plenty to improve. You will work closely with managers and leaders across the business, helping them make better people decisions, manage employee relations well, improve team performance, and support the implementation of new systems and processes. You will need to be comfortable in a VUCA environment. Things will move. Priorities will change. Not everything will be perfectly documented. That should not scare you. In fact, you should probably enjoy bringing calm, structure and judgement to that kind of environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Partnering with managers and leaders across the business to support better people decisions, stronger team performance and clearer accountability.
  • Managing ER cases including absence, conduct, capability, grievance, disciplinary, probation and performance matters.
  • Coaching managers through difficult conversations, formal processes and day to day people leadership.
  • Supporting change and transformation activity, including process redesign, system implementation, operating rhythm improvements and manager education.
  • Helping us build cleaner, simpler and more scalable People processes.
  • Supporting the rollout and adoption of new HR systems, workflows and people data.
  • Using people insight to spot trends, reduce repeat issues and help leaders make better decisions.
  • Creating practical guidance, tools and documentation that help managers lead confidently.
  • Working with the People Director to strengthen the People function as Tritility continues to grow.
  • Helping us move from reactive people management to better planning, better data, better governance and better employee experience.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who has already operated in a busy People Partner, HR Business Partner or strong Senior HR Advisor role. You will need to be credible, practical and commercially switched on. You do not need everything wrapped in a perfect process before you act. You do need good judgement, strong employment law knowledge and the confidence to support managers through complex people issues.

You will probably be a strong fit if you:

  • Have strong UK employee relations experience.
  • Know how to manage formal cases properly and keep documentation clean.
  • Are confident coaching managers through difficult conversations.
  • Have worked in a growing SME, sales environment, contact centre, founder led business, PE backed business or another fast moving commercial setting.
  • Are comfortable supporting change, transformation and system implementation.
  • Can work with ambiguity without becoming chaotic.
  • Understand how to balance fairness, consistency, risk and commercial reality.
  • Are confident challenging leaders constructively when needed.
  • Can move between operational delivery and bigger picture thinking.
  • Are a starter finisher who gets things done.

The Kind of Person Who Will Thrive Here

You will enjoy this role if you like building things, fixing things and making businesses better. You will need to be warm, direct and resilient. You will be dealing with managers who need practical support, employees who need fair and human treatment, and a business that needs People to move at the same pace as the commercial agenda. This role will suit someone who brings calm into noise. Someone who can follow the string, spot the real issue, and help the business deal with it properly. We are not looking for someone who wants to sit on the sidelines and comment on the business. We are looking for someone who wants to be in it, shaping it, improving it and helping it mature.

Why Join Tritility?

This is a brilliant time to join Tritility. We are growing, changing and investing in the foundations that will help us scale properly. That means better systems, better data, stronger manager capability, clearer processes and a People function that is genuinely driving the growth across the business. For the right person, this is a role with real impact. You will be trusted, challenged and given the opportunity to shape how People supports the next stage of Tritility’s growth.
