Location: Barnham (West Sussex)
Job Type: This position is permanent, and full time, working a minimum of 39 hours per week
Salary Range: up to-£28,800 (plus overtime) based on experience

Do you have a passion for plant potting and a desire to lead a motivated team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment? We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Team Leader Potting to assist the Site Supervisors in the planning and running of an effective and efficient potting operation throughout the season. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and implement innovative potting techniques while maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Passionate but lacking technical training? We are open to supporting the right candidate with training and may consider a Trainee-level start (at a lower salary banding).
What You’ll Do:
- Potting Mastery: Pot all the nursery’s crops, quickly and efficiently to the required quality standard and timing. You’ll prepare and grade material, plugs and liners as well as having hand on and machine potting, tray filling liner potting, standing down, watering in and protecting the crop.
- Production Planning: Together with the Managers and Site Supervisors, draw up weekly and monthly production plans
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and develop a team of potting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Ensure safe working practices are followed and monitor team performance against KPIs.
- Training & Improvement: Induct and provide on the job training for new or inexperienced staff including standard operating procedures and production rates.
- Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety standards while working closely with your team to maintain a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.
- Administrative Tasks: Follow the potting schedule for each week as agreed by the Managers and record when work is completed on to production reports.

- Experience and proven ability in horticulture
- Excellent team leading capabilities, attention to detail and organisationalskills
- Keen interest in machinery and good people skills to motivate and guide a number of small teams
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- A passion for horticulture, training and continuous improvement
