TristoneNash are delighted to be supporting a leading housing provider in the recruitment of a Building Surveyor to join their Property Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Building Surveyor or Project Surveyor to oversee a varied programme of one-off capital projects and leasehold works. The role combines technical surveying, contract management and quality assurance, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to a high standard.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing projects from inception through to completion, undertaking site inspections, monitoring contractor performance and ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and contract requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Undertaking site inspections and quality control checks at key project milestones.
- Carrying out weekly Health & Safety inspections as part of the client's duties under CDM.
- Identifying building defects and recommending appropriate repair solutions.
- Producing work schedules and technical specifications for tender.
- Managing contractors and undertaking contract administration duties.
- Chairing monthly contractor progress meetings.
- Processing final valuations, contractor variations and purchase orders.
- Monitoring project quality, programme and budget.
- Ensuring all works comply with relevant legislation and company standards.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- A minimum HNC qualification in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
- A strong understanding of building construction, building fabric and building components.
- Experience diagnosing building defects and specifying remedial works.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
- Experience preparing specifications and tender documentation.
- Strong contractor management and communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and use of tablets/iPads.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
What's on Offer
Salary of £45,230, 37-hour working week, 26 days annual leave plus.
