Location: Cwmbran
Hybrid Working: Attending the office one or two days per week
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £84,213
Hours/days: 37 hours per week (09:00am to 17:00pm with flexibility)
Extras: Bron Afon operate a four-day working week - meaning you work 80% but are paid 100%, receiving one day off per week, agreed weekly with the Executive Director.
Overview: Bron Afon own and manage over 8,000 homes, supporting 20,000 people. This is a key senior leadership role within the people directorate, giving someone the opportunity to shape Bron Afon's people agenda, lead cultural change and help drive organisational improvement. Bron Afon are a community-owned social housing organisation with a clear social purpose and a strong commitment to helping communities thrive.
Reporting to the Executive Director, you'll lead HR, learning and development, internal communications and engagement, wellbeing, and EDI. They require a credible senior people leader with strong HR/OD experience, excellent judgement and the ability to lead through change in a complex environment. You would have 4 direct reports, all of whom are at Business Partner level and you would be responsible for a department of 8 staff overall. The financial responsibility includes a revenue budget of circa £1m.
Your duties in this role would include:
- Leading the strategic/operational delivery of the People Services portfolio, including HR, L&D, Internal Communications & Engagement, Wellbeing, and Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI).
- Ensuring these services align with Bron Afon's values, and support cultural transformation.
- Playing a key role in driving agile ways of working and delivering a corporate strategy.
- Positioning Bron Afon to attract, recruit, develop and retain talented people.
- Leading the development and delivery of People, L&D, EDI and Internal Communications strategies, ensuring a proactive, modern and technologically enabled approach to people management.
- Ensuring the alignment of resources, systems and people to deliver high-quality, professional support to the business.
- Contributing to the overall leadership, direction and success of Bron Afon, helping create an inclusive, engaged and high-performing organisation.
- Leading on the development of Total Reward and recognition systems that balance market and internal equity and are aligned with Bron Afon's cultural direction of travel.
- Developing HR analytics to provide ongoing insight into employee behaviour and other characteristics to inform decision making; ensuring that all people-related data is managed professionally.
Essential requirements for this role:
- Experience at Director level within HR/People previously, or experience at 'Head of' level coupled with 5+ years within the social housing sector.
- CIPD Level 7 qualification.
