Youth Offending Officer

London Borough of Hounslow

Up to £30 per hour

Are you a dedicated and experienced professional with a passion for working with young people and making a positive impact on their lives? The London Borough of Hounslow Youth Offending Team is seeking a skilled and proactive Youth Offending Officer to join our dynamic team.

The Role:

As a Youth Offending Officer, you will play a crucial role in preventing offending and re-offending by young people. You will be responsible for a varied caseload and will need to be proficient in the following key areas:

  • Case Management: Conduct and complete high-quality report writing, including pre-sentence reports, and ensure all case notes are accurate and up to date.
  • Assessments: Undertake comprehensive assessments using tools such as Asset Plus and P-DAT assessments to identify the needs and risks of young people.
  • Legal Processes: Prepare for and attend court attendance, presenting reports and giving evidence as required. You will have a strong understanding of legal frameworks, including the Crime, Violence, and Youth Justice (CVYJ) framework.
  • Intervention and Planning: Develop and implement effective intervention plans for young people subject to both out-of-court and statutory disposals.
  • Collaboration: Participate in and lead multi-agency meetings, working closely with police, social care, schools, and other partners to ensure a coordinated approach to youth justice.
  • Risk Management: Actively manage risk of harm to others and risk of vulnerability for young people in line with service procedures.

About You:

  • You will have a recognised qualification in social work, probation, or a related field.
  • You will have proven experience working within a Youth Offending Service.
  • You possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • You are resilient, empathetic, and committed to promoting the welfare of young people.
