About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Fostering Social Worker to join a dedicated team committed to achieving the best outcomes for children through safe, stable, and permanent family placements. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled social worker with experience in kinship and fostering assessments who is passionate about supporting children to remain within their wider family network wherever possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake comprehensive assessments of family and friends carers to support permanency planning for children.
- Complete Connected Persons (Regulation 24) assessments, Special Guardianship Order (SGO) assessments, Form K assessments, Private Fostering Assessments, viability assessments, and full fostering assessments.
- Provide supervision and support to families during the assessment process.
- Undertake distance assessments for carers living outside the local authority area, working collaboratively with partner agencies to gather and evaluate information.
- Produce high-quality, evidence-based assessment reports that inform decision‑making and court processes.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date case records in line with statutory and local authority requirements.
- Attend professional meetings, fostering panels, and court proceedings where required.
- Ensure all assessments are completed within statutory timescales, with the child's welfare and best interests remaining at the heart of all practice.
